GPS Base Data

Accessing BASE Data Files | File Naming Conventions | Configuraton | Reference Position | Disclaimer

As a service to the GPS Community The WILKES UNIVERSITY GPS base station collects measurements to allow users with sub-meter capable equipment and appropriate software to achieve sub-meter results. Base files are generated five minutes after the top of the hour, and about four months of BASE files are available at any time.

Accessing BASE Data

The data collected for differential correction purposes is available via a FTP Username: Wilkes_Base and password GPS_4000sse.

Hours of Base Station operation are 7 days a week (6am-8pm)

File Naming Conventions

If you wish to download hourly BASE files, the file name scheme is thus:

yymmddhh.zip

Where:

yy is the last 2 digits of the year -
mm is the two-digit month - from 01 for January to 12 for December.
dd is the two-digit day
hh is the two-digit hour, which ranges from 00 to 23. The hour is based on GPS time. Our area is 5 hours behind GPS time during standard time, and 4 hours behind when in daylight savings time, so the GPS hour 14 corresponds to 9am EST or 10am EDT.
